I thought A Photoshop lesson would be a change from the norm on the blog. I'll illustrate how I put together the opening photo (a self portrait of sorts) on the blog.
First, the idea. I found this painting on the website All Posters.com. It's actually one of two paintings that are meant to hang together. One of this guy and the other (not shown) is a woman looking away from the guy, sort of playing hard to get. I really like the painting(s) and decided to try to recreate it.
So I needed certain objects I didn't have around the house so I went to Google images and procured what I needed. A bar scene and a cigar.
Next, I had to set up a scene in my garage where I could strike the pose needed to look like the the original. I set a table up, put on a jacket and a hat, poured a glass of wine ( thats the real deal ) and because I didn't have a cigar I used a screw driver to hold in my hand to take the place of where the cigar would be. (My family thought I was insane when I shot this one) I set my camera's timer and jumped in.
Finally, I needed smoke which I had in my files from another photo shoot I did months earlier.
Lastly, thanks to the good people at Adobe Systems I assembled all the elements in Photoshop.
I really like the results and had a lot of fun doing it.
Happy Father's Day to all.
Cheers!
